Bruno Porchietto, Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT) chief executive officer, joined industry leaders at Ports Australia’s 49th Biennial Conference in Sydney, which was themed “Globally Connected, Future Focused.”

The conference brought together more than 400 delegates from across the maritime and logistics sectors from Australia, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, to discuss the future of ports, maritime transport, and logistics.

Porchietto joined panelists from PSA International and the Port of Brisbane to discuss how artificial intelligence and automation are reshaping port operations. The discussion explored the opportunities these technologies offer, alongside the practical challenges of adopting them safely and effectively.

VICT shared insights into its operating model and role in Australia’s supply chain as the only fully automated container terminal in the Southern Hemisphere. Its participation contributed to industry discussions on the use of technology to support safer, smarter, and more efficient port operations.
