ICTSI South Pacific spearheads campaign against plastic pollution

ICTSI South Pacific organized a month-long campaign in June, Environment Month,  to promote environmental awareness with a focus on addressing plastic pollution in Papua New Guinea.

The campaign included an educational program, poster competitions, poem recitals by students, tree planting, and cleanup drives (Cleanathon) at Badihagwa Technical School in Port Moresby and Muya Primary School in Lae.

The Cleanathon events took place on June 14 in Lae and on June 21 in Port Moresby, with volunteers cleaning markets, town areas, and coastal areas.

The events were supported by the Climate Change Development Authority, Morobe Provincial Administration – Environment & Climate Change Division, Motu Koita Assembly, and Total Energies – Papua LNG.
