TecPlata S.A., (TecPlata) International Container Terminal Services, Inc.’s (ICTSI) business unit in Buenos Aires, Argentina and operator of the container terminal in the Port of La Plata, received its first bi-train truck operated by Yusen Logistics on May 20, 2025.

This bi-train operation is a logistics landmark for Argentina that integrates new land transport technology into the port ecosystem.

The bi-train, a kind of transport truck with double semi-trailers connected by a central axle, is an innovation in the logistics chain. It enables the transport of significantly more cargo in a single trip – up to 70 percent more than a traditional truck – at lower operational costs and with significantly reduced environmental impact.

This vehicle configuration, authorized under strict regulations, optimizes long-distance cargo transportation by enhancing efficiency, safety and sustainability. It’s incorporation into TecPlata’s operations reinforces the terminal’s commitment to developing modern solutions that boost the competitiveness of Argentina’s foreign trade.

“The arrival of bi-train trucks at TecPlata in an important step toward more efficient and sustainable logistics. We celebrate this first operation with Yusen Logistics, who trusted us as a key link in strengthening their service network,” said Juan Pablo Trujillo, TecPlata chief executive officer.

The bi-train operation also showcases TecPlata’s versatility and land connectivity, featuring direct highway access and the necessary infrastructure to receive such specialized units without negatively affecting operational flow.

This initiative is part of a broader effort by TecPlata to consolidate an intelligent logistics hub in the southern Greater Buenos Aires area, connecting producers, exporters and importers to global markets within global standards for quality, innovation and environmental responsibility.
