MMT handles 14th tunnel boring machine for Manila subway project
Components of the 14th tunnel boring machine for the Metro Manila Subway Project were unloaded from the vessel Cosmic Polaris.
Manila Multipurpose Termina (MMT) successfully discharged the 14th tunnel boring machine for the Metro Manila subway project on April 6, a critical feat supporting the modernization of the Philippines’ transportation infrastructure.
As of early 2026, the subway project has surpassed the 40 percent completion mark. Once finished, the 33-kilometer rail line will link Valenzuela and Parañaque through 17 stations that include a dedicated spur line to Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
The project continues to move steadily toward two major operational phases, with partial operations targeted to commence in the first quarter of 2028. The project is scheduled for completion between 2031 and 2032, marking a new era for transportation in the country.
Since 2021, MMT continues to serve as the primary logistics gateway for the project. This long-standing partnership with the Philippine Government ensures that all the specialized, oversized equipment for the project are handled with the expertise and precision necessary to keep development on track.
