ICTSI Foundation supports allies anew in fight against women and child abuse

The ICTSI Foundation recently renewed its partnerships with the Child Protection Network Foundation, Inc. (CPN) and the Voice of the Free Foundation, Inc. (formerly the Visayan Forum) – two of its staunch allies in fighting child abuse and modern slavery.

The CPN runs a Women and Child Protection Unit (WCPU) at the Philippine General Hospital, that provides medical, mental health, social work, and legal services to patients who endured physical and/or sexual abuse. For the second straight year, the ICTSI Foundation has committed to support the provision of the above-mentioned services to an estimated 1,700 patients and shoulder select operating costs.

With the Foundation’s support, the CPN is also scheduled to start next month online training for the establishment of more WCPUs. Participating hospitals, on the other hand, are expected to start providing the first line of care to abused patients by the end of the year.

On the other hand, the Voice of the Free Foundation operates a shelter for exploited and abused children rescued across the country. Rescued girls are taken to VF’s Center of Hope in Antipolo, where they are provided education, livelihood skills training, psychosocial treatments, and other interventions as part of their healing and rehabilitation. The ICTSI Foundation’s donation will go to the operating costs of the Center of Hope and support the rescue missions and advocacy programs of VF.
