Tecon Suape recently partnered with the Hippocampus Institute in Ipojuca to support the latter’s seahorse conservation efforts.

By sharing resources, Tecon Suape is helping the institute’s research and release activities for seahorses, which are currently facing the threat of extinction due to development and water pollution.

The Hippocampus Institute is a nongovernmental institute that has been working to conserve seahorses for more than 25 years by breeding the animals in their laboratory aquariums. Last year, the institute released more than 34,000 seahorses in the region’s estuaries.

Known for tackling socio-environmental issues and actively participating in the preservation of ecosystems around the port, Tecon Suape is one of the first companies operating in the Suape Port Industrial Complex to work with the Ipojuca-based nongovernmental organization. The partnership reaffirms Tecon Suape’s commitment to sustainable and environment-friendly operation at the Port of Suape.
