Tecon Suape cited for environmental stewardship


 

Tecon Suape S.A. (TSSA), International Container Terminal Services, Inc.’s (ICTSI) business unit in Pernambuco, Brazil, is once again recognized as one of the country’s leading environmentally responsible port facilities after receiving the 2025 Ocean Friend seal. The award underscores the company’s commitment to sustainability and ocean protection.

The award was presented at Suape Conecta, an event organized by the Suape Port Industrial Complex. It honors marine terminals that demonstrate excellence in environmental compliance and the consistently adopt best-in-class sustainable practices across port operations.

“By recognizing our partners, Suape reaffirms its vision that economic development and environmental protection go hand in hand,” said José Constantino, Suape Port Industrial Complex director of port development and management. 

“Today, we celebrate not only companies that meet requirements, but strategic partners who share the responsibility for the ocean and ensuring a more sustainable future for the next generations,” he added.

Tecon Suape stood out for its proactive environmental management, aligning its operations with global sustainability frameworks, including the United Nations Decade of the Ocean and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water. Moreover, the award reinforces ICTSI’s longstanding strategy of integrating environmental stewardship into every stage of terminal development and daily operations.

Five other terminals were also recognized in the ceremony: Pandenor Import and Export, Decal Brasil, Petrobas Transporte S.A. – Suape Waterway Terminal, Ultracargo Logistica, and Temape – Terminals Maritimo de Pernambuco.
