Superior ESG projects, terminals shine in 4<sup>th</sup> Edify Awards


 

International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) held the 4th Edify Awards to recognize outstanding sustainability initiatives and excellence in ESG reporting across its global operations

The annual awards highlight projects and terminals that demonstrate innovation, measurable impact, and commitment to environmental stewardship, community engagement, employee welfare, workplace safety, and responsible business practices.

Contecon Manzanillo (CMSA) is Terminal of the Year for Sustainability Reporting after earning four distinctions: Best Sustainability Initiatives for Employees and Health and, Safety and Best Terminals for Sustainability Reporting – Customer Engagement and Health and Safety Reporting.

Other terminals honored for excellence include South Cotabato Integrated Port Services Inc. (SCIPSI) for Community Relations, Manila North Harbour Port Inc. (MNHPI) for Data Privacy, Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) for Environment and Climate, Contecon Guayaquil S.A. (CGSA) for Financial Reporting, Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT) for Human Resources, and Tecon Suape (TSSA) for Supply Chain.

The awards also celebrated impactful projects across terminals. CGSA received Best Environment Initiative for its waste reuse and reduction program, while South Pacific International Container Terminal (SPICTL) was recognized for Best Community Initiative for its Labu Miti classroom project in Papua New Guinea. CMSA earned Best Initiative for Employees for its Converanito summer school for employees’ children and Best Health and Safety Initiative for its AI-driven monitoring system and safety culture campaign. MNHPI received Best Governance Initiative for its collective bargaining agreement and newly defined core values.

The Edify Awards concluded ICTSI’s Sustainability Week, which opened with the Third Sustainability Summit on October 7. The summit featured presentations from last year’s winning projects, including Rio Brasil Terminal’s climate initiatives, Sociedad Puerto Industrial de Aguadulce’s employment program for Afro-Colombian women, and Tecon Suape’s refreshed mission and core values.

Veejay Calutan, sustainability reporting lead, and John Joseph Ilagan, environmental manager, shared updates on ICTSI’s ESG strategy, policies, and climate reporting.

Nathan Clarke, ICTSI vice president and head of Global Engineering and newly appointed deputy chief sustainability officer, emphasized collaboration and long-term commitment to advance the company’s ESG goals. He acknowledged the challenges of transitioning to sustainable port operations and reaffirmed ICTSI’s drive for decarbonization and continuous improvement across its terminals.
