PICT takes lead at shipping, supply chain summit

Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT) Chief Executive Officer Khurram Aziz Khan was a keynote speaker in the recent Annual Sustainable Shipping, Logistics & Supply Chain Summit. 

In his speech, Mr. Khan brought to the limelight the arena of opportunities prevailing in the port supply chain and the role PICT has been playing as key contributor in Pakistan’s terminal industry. 

“With the goal to become the container terminal of choice at the Port of Karachi, we are constantly levelling up our operational strategies to provide customer-centric solutions and further improve the ease of doing business. We look forward to continue delivering resilient value chain through innovation and collaboration with government and industry stakeholders,” explained Mr. Khan. 

Mr. Khan also addressed several issues including the need for a truck holding area at the Port of Karachi to ease road traffic as well as the need for a long-term strategy in addressing the long-standing issue of abandoned containers at the port. He also emphasized the exigency of dredging to enable port access for up to 13-meter vessels on zero tide to increase port productivity.

PICT was conferred the Green Supply Chain Award at the summit in recognition of the Company’s sustainable business operations. The award was presented by Mahmood Moulvi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Maritime Affairs.
