PaskOlympics brings joy to Subic children

The ICTSI Foundation and Subic Bay International Terminal Corporation (SBITC) partnered with the Subic Municipal Social Welfare Development Office to hold PaskOlympics 2025: Palarong Pinoy sa Kabataan, a sportsfest that celebrated traditional Filipino games and offered meaningful recreational activities for vulnerable children.
The sportsfest gathered 242 children from Subic-based institutions that support victims of abuse, neglect, and abandonment, as well as learners from indigenous communities. Participants came from the Peoples Recovery Empowerment and Development Assistance Foundation, Philippine Outreach Centre Children’s Home, Jireh Children’s Home, Jasmine Rhose Homes, and St. Francis Learning Center Foundation.
Children joined classic Filipino games such as sipa, kadang-kadang sa bao, pagulong ng gulong, sack race, and tug of war. The games promoted movement, teamwork, and appreciation for local culture. Each child received a reusable tumbler as a Christmas gift.
PaskOlympics 2025 formed part of National Children’s Month, which highlights every child’s right to play, learn, and enjoy experiences regardless of background. The sportsfest provided a safe space for children with limited access to organized recreation.
The sportsfest is part of the partnership between the ICTSI Foundation and SBITC to support communities in Subic. Their programs through the years include relief operations, Christmas outreach activities, and education support. Most recently, they completed the digitalization of all 31 child development centers in Subic by equipping each classroom with 50-inch smart televisions.
