NorthPort advances Pier 14 infra upgrades
NorthPort has completed structural works on the second and third 42.5-meter segments of Pier 14 ahead of schedule, marking steady progress in reinforcing the Terminal 1 wharf.
The wharf strengthening project forms part of NorthPort’s broader three-year structural upgrade program, aimed at enhancing terminal capacity and operational resilience to support the country’s growing trade requirements. Once completed, the upgrades will enable faster and safer vessel handling, reduce turnaround times, and support safer, more efficient terminal operations.
As of February, construction has progressed to the fourth and final 52.5-meter segment of the pier. Current activities include resurfacing the remaining deck area, repairing above-deck damage to prevent structural degradation, and upgrading the existing fender system from 700 mm to 1,000 mm cell fenders for safer berthing. These are being carried out in parallel to reduce operational disruptions.
The ongoing segment is targeted for completion by end-March 2026, with the full project scheduled for completion in late 2027.
