MMT holds safety toolkit session for management
Management Committee members of the Manila Multipurpose Terminal (MMT) recently underwent a safety culture toolkit training session as part of the Mag Malasakit Tayo safety program of the company.
Spearheaded by safety expert Lee Charles Wilson, the initiative is part of MMT’s efforts to strengthen its safety culture, promoting a proactive and engaging approach to workplace safety. The training session reviewed the status of the safety program and laid out the next steps for MMT.
Among the topics tackled during the training are:
- Identifying core elements of building a strong safety culture;
- Conducting effective safety conversations using the Tell, Explain, Describe technique to gather more precise information;Applying Triggers-Behaviors-Outcomes analysis to understand why employees act a certain way on the job and how their actions affect safety; and
- Embracing the principles of just culture, which encourages employees to report errors and safety issues without fear of punishment but still holding individuals accountable for their actions and choices.
- The training will soon be rolled out to managers and supervisors to ensure that the principles of the program are applied at every level of the organization.
MMT aims to establish a stronger and more sustainable safety framework that goes beyond compliance and encourages every team member to take an active role in promoting safety in their daily work.
