MMT handles discharge of NSCR trainset

Manila Multipurpose Terminal (MMT) handled the discharge of the third eight-car multiple unit trainsets for the Department of Transportation’s North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project.

The trainset arrived from Japan on August 22 and is part of the rolling stock for the Malolos-Tutuban segment of the 147-kilometer NSCR connecting Central Luzon, Metro Manila and Calabarzon. The project comprises a total of 13 trainsets with a total of 104 coaches.

Trainset 4 is scheduled to arrive in September, while trainsets 5 to 9 are scheduled for delivery in 2027. Trainsets 10 to 13 are scheduled for delivery in 2028.

The Department of Transportation looks to start partial railway operations from Valenzuela to Malolos by the fourth quarter of 2027.
