MICT spearheads forum on trade digitalization

The Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) hosted the Forwarders and Brokers Forum on October 17, bringing together logistics stakeholders at Solaire Entertainment City to discuss the future of Philippine ports and the role of digital transformation.
With the theme Redefining Trade through MICT Collaboration, the forum highlighted the importance of cooperation among terminal operators, government agencies and industry partners in improving trade efficiency and competitiveness.
Christian Lozano, MICT chief executive officer, opened the forum, underscoring the value of collaboration in supporting the Philippines’ economy. Nicolette Ong, MICT commercial head, and Erika Ambrosio, MICT Philippine Commercial – customer experience head, presented MICT’s initiatives and digital solutions to enhance trade facilitation and customer experience.
Speakers from partner institutions also shared insights on operational improvements and policy assignment. Ambrocio Ilao of the Philippine Ports Authority discussed measured to expand port capacity, while Rizalino Toralba, Bureau of Customs - Manila International Container Port district collector emphasized the need for closer coordination with the bureau to expedite cargo clearance.
Technology and innovation were central to the discussions, with Gregg Sebastian, Philippine Multimodal Transport and Logistics Association Inc. director, and Atty. Norberto Castillo, Philippine Chamber of Customs Brokers Inc. president, advocating for the use of digital tools to increase efficiency in customs brokerage and logistics operations.
The forum concluded with dinner and socials later in the evening, providing participants with opportunities to network and strengthen industry partnerships.
