MICT celebrates women engineers
Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) marked International Women in Engineering Day on June 23 with a program that recognized the contributions of women in the profession and encouraged broader participation in the field.
Organized by the Engineering Department, the event brought together employees, students and port industry representatives to reflect on the evolving role of women in the engineering field.
Jean Jacquelyn Nathania A. De Castro, ESCA Engineering chief executive officer, delivered the keynote address titled “Redefining Engineering: Passion, Purpose, and Play.” She urged attendees to view engineering as both a professional path and a source of fulfillment.
The program also featured an audio-visual presentation profiling female engineering students from the Technological Institute of the Philippines – Manila. The segment offered a look into the aspirations of young women preparing to enter the workforce. Testimonials from MICT’s women engineers and technicians capped the event, as they shared personal experiences that highlighted both challenges and achievements in their careers.
Representatives from the engineering teams of NorthPort and Subic Bay International Terminals also attended the event, underscoring the shared commitment across International Container Terminal Services Inc. to support women in engineering roles across its global operation.
MICT continues to promote inclusion and recognizes the role of women in strengthening both the profession and the industry.
