MGT Young Leaders Academy receives ministerial visit

D.R. Congo Minister of State for Vocational Training Marc Ekila Likombo visited Matadi Gateway Terminal (MGT) on August 12 to review the progress of the MGT Young Leaders Academy.

Accompanied by the communications team of the president of the republic, H.E. Likombo met with academy trainees, trainers and coordinators to assess the program’s progress since its launch. He was personally received by Timothee Jeannin, MGT managing director.

The MGT Young Leaders Academy supports vocational training and skills development by combining classroom learning with practical knowledge from MGT professionals. The program aligns with the government’s efforts to strengthen training and development skills suited to the needs of the labor market.

H.E. Likombo also inspected the construction site of MGT’s new southern access road. The project will improve access to the terminal, facilitate the movement of goods and help address traffic congestion in Matadi.

The delegation also visited community projects supported by MGT, including education initiatives at Collège Ntetembwa and the healthcare facilities at Kiamvu General Referral Hospital, where they inspected the renovated and newly equipped maternity ward, neonatal unit and surgical block.

The visit highlighted MGT’s role in supporting skills development and community development in Matadi, while reinforcing the importance of partnerships between industry and government in creating opportunities for young people and members of the community.
