MGT reinforces role in advancing the DRC supply chain
Leveraging its strong operational expertise, Matadi Gateway Terminal (MGT) continues to invest in innovative solutions to optimize the supply chain in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
MGT is committed to the construction of a second dedicated access road that will strengthen connectivity between the terminal and the city of Matadi. Once built, the new route will help ease traffic congestion, reduce transit times, and enhance the safety and resilience of road transport operations.
The terminal is also expanding its operational area from 4.8 hectares to five hectares. This development is designed to support capacity growth, optimize container storage, and increase the flexibility of yard operations.
MGT also continues to make targeted investments in high-performance equipment, coupled with a modernized operating system. These initiatives contribute to enhanced productivity, reduced operating costs, and improved reliability of dock and yard operations. This approach helps secure critical future skills while supporting the terminal’s evolution toward more data-driven operations and lean management.
In line with the goal to develop human capital, MGT is also investing in enhancing local talents through the Young Leaders Academy. The program is dedicated to developing not only the terminal’s future technical and operational experts, but also the next generation of logistics professionals in the country.
These initiatives embody MGT’s role as a key enabler of supply chain development in the DRC, supporting the sustainable growth of regional and international trade.
