Matadi Gateway Terminal (MGT) launched the MGT Young Leaders Academy on April 19. The initiative is part of the company’s commitment to developing human capital in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

According to Timothée Jeannin, MGT chief executive officer, the academy represents the company’s role in strengthening employability and national competitiveness. The program is officially recognized by the government through a ministerial decree.

Florian Masaki Nzembele, MGT deputy chief executive officer and Young Leaders Academy coordinator, described the initiative as a long-term investment in the future of Kongo Central Province and the country. The six-month program combines theoretical and practical training in modern port terminal operations, with participants selected through a rigorous process.

Marc Ekila Likombo, Vocational Training minister, acknowledged during the launch that initiative aligns with the government’s vision of building a skilled workforce and advancing specialization in the logistics sector.

The launch also marked the signing of a strategic partnership between MGT and the Ministry of Vocational Training to support the development of the maritime and logistics sector, as well as strengthen professional training in port-related professions nationwide.
