MGT launches learning program for future talents

Matadi Gateway Terminal (MGT) has launched the MGT Young Leaders Academy, a program designed to support young talent and recent graduates in Kongo Central. The initiative reflects MGT’s commitment to local employment, professional growth and inclusive development in the region.

The academy will serve as a center for training and knowledge transfer aligned with international standards. Combining classroom learning and on-the-job experience, participants will gain practical insights and exposure to terminal operations in an environment that encourages professional growth and inclusion.

The program’s main objectives are to identify, train, and support promising young graduates to become future leaders of the company; provide coaching and mentorship; promote equal opportunities, inclusion, and diversity; and build a network of alumni, mentors, and partners.

The Young Leaders Academy will primarily engage young academics from Kongo Central, including graduates from Matadi, to help align their skills with industry standards and professional practices.

A testing phase began in August 2025 with two new hires in the Operations Department for a period of 24 weeks. The official launch is scheduled for 15 November 2025, along with a call for applications to universities across Kongo Central. Ten young academics will be selected for the first intake of the program.

MGT also welcomed Mr. Salif Diao as ambassador of the MGT Young Leaders Academy. A former professional football player and well-known figure in African football, Mr. Diao brings his experience and network to support the development of young Congolese professionals. His participation aligns with the academy’s goal of training, mentoring, and guiding the next generation of talent.

Through this initiative, MGT continues to invest in local skills development, preparing young professionals to address future challenges in digitalization, energy transition, and global competitiveness.
