Matadi Gateway Terminal (MGT) has taken the initiative to engage the provincial government of Kongo Central in addressing the growing problem of illegally parked trucks and road congestion in Matadi.

On May 12, the MGT leadership led by Timothée Jeannin, general manager, and Florian Masaki, deputy manager, met with Kongo Central Governor Grâce Nkuanga Bilolo and Vice Governor Prosper Ntela Ntambidila, to present the issue and propose solutions. They were joined by Damien Huppert, International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) vice president for global procurement.

The MGT delegation highlighted the issue of abandoned trucks and vehicles occupying public roads. In many areas, trucks are left unattended for extended periods, creating obstructions that restrict traffic flow, cause accidents and interfere infrastructure, especially water drainage during rainfall.

MGT emphasized the need to clear and protect the recently rehabilitated route de l'Ouest, a key road that stretches from Kinkanda traffic circle to the SEP Congo entrance, which serves as the primary exit route from the terminal. The delegation also requested the provincial government’s support in regulating illegal parking, particularly along the Ango-Ango Road.

Governor Bilolo express support for MGT’s request and confirmed the deployment of ground teams to improve traffic flow.

Besides transport issues, discussions also covered community and social development projects that MGT is implementing across Kongo Central. These efforts reflect the company’s broader commitment to contributing to the region’s progress.

The meeting reaffirmed a shared commitment between MGT and the Kong Central Government to address public concerns through coordinated efforts and sustained engagement.
