MCT supports customs operations
Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) has allocated a dedicated facility for the Bureau of Customs (BOC) to support customs enforcement operations while maintaining efficient cargo flow.
Under a memorandum of agreement signed on June 9, the BOC was granted exclusive use of a 10,000-square-meter area within the terminal for the temporary storage, examination, custody, handling and inventory of seized containers, vehicles and other non-hazardous goods. The facility also serves as a staging area for customs enforcement activities.
The agreement was signed by Ariel Nepomuceno, BOC commissioner; Atty. Joseph Donato Bernedo, PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority administrator and chief executive officer; and Aurelio Garcia, MCT president and general manager.
The dedicated facility will enhance the handling of seized goods, support more efficient customs operations and help streamline enforcement activities within the terminal.
