ICTSI, SGV share insights at SEC briefing

International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) and SGV & Co. (SGV) shared industry perspectives during the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) 2026 Industry Briefing on Sectoral Trends and Emerging Opportunities in Key Economic Drivers.
The briefing brought together regulatory, legal, governance, accounting and operational viewpoints on the port sector. Discussions covered the sector’s role in economic activity, infrastructure development, sustainability initiatives and the importance of governance, transparency and risk management.
Atty. Lirene Mora, ICTSI vice president for global legal affairs, delivered a presentation titled “Ports: Moving Trade, Shaping Economies.” She discussed ICTSI’s global operations and the role of ports in supporting trade, supply chains, investment and economic activity.
Atty. Mora also described ports as public infrastructure where regulation, capital, technology, labor, sustainability and governance intersect. Her presentation examined the role of efficient ports in supporting cargo movement, expanding capacity and connecting businesses to domestic and international markets.
The discussion also covered regulation, disclosure, digitalization, sustainability and risk management in relation to infrastructure development and investment.
Jonathan Bino and Martin Guantes of SGV discussed the port operator business model from an accounting perspective. The presentation covered operational, regulatory, financial reporting and sustainability-related considerations relevant to the sector.
The SEC Office of the General Accountant thanked the speakers and participants for the presentations, noting the value of continued engagement among regulators, industry representatives and professional advisers.
