ICTSI Foundation supports DENR's “Forests for Life” initiative
The ICTSI Foundation (IF) recently pledged support to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources' (DENR) "Forests for Life: 5 Million Trees by 2028" initiative, an effort to restore the Philippines' forest ecosystems.
Filipina C. Laurena, IF executive director, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DENR Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga last 21 March, confirming IF's participation as a partner. The initiative encourages investment of PHP100 per tree from individuals and businesses, ensuring the trees' long-term health and contribution to the environment.
ICTSI's commitment, alongside those of Prime Infra and Manila Water, demonstrates a united push for environmental sustainability. This initiative aims to plant 10 million trees in three years, leading to the sequestration of approximately 6.5 million tons of carbon dioxide by 2038 and strengthening the country’s resilience against climate change.
