ICTSI Foundation marks Mandela Day

The ICTSI Foundation partnered with the South African Embassy in the Philippines to commemorate Nelson Mandela International Day, continuing a collaboration that has run for three consecutive years.

The commemoration was held at Nayon ng Kabataan, a residential care facility in Mandaluyong City operated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The Foundation provided school supplies, hygiene kits, and other essential items for 150 children housed at the facility. It also sponsored food carts, game booths, and party decorations to help create a lively and inclusive atmosphere.

Observed every July 18, Nelson Mandela Day honors the legacy of the late South African president and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. Mandela is remembered worldwide for his advocacy of peace, equality, and human rights.

Ambassador BN Radebe-Netshitenzhe of South Africa led the gift-giving activity, joined by fellow diplomats from the embassies of Brazil, Palestine, Angola, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Nigeria.

Nayon ng Kabataan provides temporary shelter and support to children who are abandoned, neglected, abused, or exploited. The program is part of the DSWD’s child protection and rehabilitation efforts.

The ICTSI Foundation, the social partner of International Container Terminal Services, Inc., supports initiatives focused on education, community welfare, and youth development.
