EMEA managers complete terminal operations training
Sixteen middle managers from ICTSI business units in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) recently completed the Terminal Operations Training Program organized by the Global Corporate Human Resources under the ICTSI Global Academy program.
Held from July 21 to August 1 in Istanbul, Turkey, the training was aimed at strengthening the business units’ operational performance by improving the leadership skills of the participating managers.
Hans-Ole Madsen, ICTSI senior vice president and regional head for EMEA described participants as the next generation of ICTSI leaders. He noted their role in driving continuous improvement within their terminals and across the region.
Ahead of classroom sessions, participants completed a pre-work assignment that included a 10-minute terminal gate presentation covering infrastructure, documentation processes and handling of trouble tickets.
The program concluded with seven business improvement project proposals focused on revenue growth, productivity, waste reduction and risk management. Present during the final presentations were Nikoloz Gogoli, Batumi International Container Terminal general manager, and Jacob Gulmann, EMEA business development director.
Gulman emphasized the importance of applying what each participant learned during the training sessions. “Coming up with an idea is one thing, but implementation is 80 percent of it. I hope to hear big success stories in practice,” he said.
The Terminal Operations Training Program for EMEA was spearheaded by Marge Cuadera, ICTSI Global Academy head, co-facilitator Pamela Jeanne San Jose; and Angel Franco, Contecon Manzanillo terminal operations manager, who served as subject matter expert.
