Robin Cruickshanks, International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) Global Corporate Human Resources vice president, was honored as a “Partner of Excellence in Vocational Training” by the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Ministry of Vocational Training.

Presented in Kinshasa by Marc Ekila Likombo, minister of state for vocational training, the distinction recognizes Cruickshanks’ and the ICTSI Group’s commitment to develop local talent, share expertise and align with workplace needs.

The distinction also highlights his contribution to establishing the MGT Young Leaders Academy, an initiative of Matadi Gateway Terminal (MGT) that opens pathways for young Congolese to technical, port and logistics careers. Inaugurated in 2026 in Kongo Central province, the academy draws on the expertise of MGT professionals to provide practical training aligned with industry requirements.

During the ceremony, Guillaume Banga Wakimesa, inspector general for vocational training, commended Cruickshanks’ role in bringing the initiative to life.

For his part, the ICTSI vice president emphasized the importance of hard work, collaboration and investment in human potential. He welcomed the academy’s progress and its partnership with the Congolese authorities, reaffirming ICTSI’s commitment to help young people develop skills and prepare for career opportunities in sectors essential to the national economy.

Timothée Jeannin, MGT chief executive officer, described the academy as an example of how public-private partnerships can address training needs. He acknowledged Ekila’s role in advancing the collaboration between the ministry and MGT to strengthen the connection between vocational training and employment.
