Contecon Manzanillo briefs clients on expansion progress, new rail service
Jose Antonio Contreras, Contecon Manzanillo chief executive officer, spearheaded the client briefing.
Contecon Manzanillo held a client briefing last March 24, hosting 80 customers for breakfast to announce the upcoming completion of the third phase of the terminal’s expansion and the start of the fourth phase.
Phase 3 includes 1,307 meters of quay, enhanced capacity to service three 400-meter vessels simultaneously, 12 hectares of container yard space, and 420 meters of additional rail. On the other hand, Phase 4 will include the acquisition of two new quay cranes—the largest in Latin America, six additional rubber-tired gantry cranes, and development of seven hectares of yard space.
Contecon Manzanillo also introduced a new rail service that will increase capacity by 50 percent, expanding from two trains of 60 container wagons to two trains of 110 container wagons. The service aims to reduce transit times to main logistics centers, reduce emissions and improve cargo security.
