Contecon Guayaquil handles largest vessel call in Ecuador’s history
Maidel call of WAN HAI A19 at Contecon Guayaquil
Contecon Guayaquil (CGSA) continues to set the benchmark for Ecuador’s maritime port industry with its recent handling of the WAN HAI A19, the largest container vessel to dock in Ecuador.
CGSA completed 5,261 container moves during the historic call, which is part of Wan Hai Lines’ Asia-South America West Coast 2 (WSA2) service that directly links Ecuador to major Asian markets. Measuring 335 meters long and with a 51-meter beam, the vessel was efficiently handled in line with international operational standards.
The operation put to good use the terminal’s robust infrastructure, operational efficiency, capacity, and highly skilled workforce. Supported by ongoing investments in cutting-edge technology, modern equipment, and intelligent operating systems, the terminal is equipped to serve large, high-volume vessels safely and reliably at competitive turnaround times.
The successful operation also shows Ecuador’s maritime connectivity with Asia and boosts the competitiveness of the country’s foreign trade by facilitating more opportunities for exports and importers. It also reinforces CGSA’s role as the country’s strategic port partner and as a key contributor to national logistics and economic growth.
Through operations of this scale, CGSA continues to strengthen its position as Ecuador’s primary gateway to global markets, and as a catalyst for the country’s international trade.
