Contecon Manzanillo (CMSA) formally delivered improvement works at the Ramona Olvera Cruz Primary School on June 17. The school is one of 13 institutions supported through proceeds from the seventh edition of CMSA’s Race with a Cause.

The ceremonial turnover gathered nearly 70 individuals, including state authorities, sponsors, teachers, students and parents. During the event, sixth grade students with the highest grades were also given backpacks in recognition of their academic performance.

“This year, we managed to directly benefit 3,034 students with an investment of MXN2,054,475.02, which represents an important advance in the transformation of dignified and functional school spaces,” said José Antonio Contreras, CMSA chief executive officer.

“We are convinced that education must be the foundation of every society, and we are proud to contributed to its strengthening through these types of initiatives where both the business sector, the Colima government, and residents of the region,” he added.

Improvement works commenced in February this year following the successful race on November 10, 2024. The annual fundraiser combines sports and social responsibility to generate positive impact on the community in the field of education. The improvements include renovation of breakfast areas, installation of access ramps, painting and general maintenance, improvement of green areas, installation of new furniture and lighting, and distribution of sports and sound equipment. Media classrooms were also modernized with computers, projectors, speakers, microphones, screens and television.

With this project, CMSA reaffirms its commitment to education in the region by creating conditions that promote learning in safer, more modern and dignified environments.
