BGT East handles first dedicated general cargo ship

Basra Gateway Terminal’s (BGT) efforts to position itself as the preferred terminal at the Port of Umm Qasr for project and oil and gas cargo paved the way for the inaugural call of BBC Iceland, the first dedicated general cargo vessel to dock at BGT East. 

Specifically designed to handle multiple cargo types including containers, the terminal’s industry-standard storage area offers the ideal environment for the government’s imported oil and gas shipment. The facility operates 24/7 with a dedicated staff and equipment for general cargo. 

“This milestone is the culmination of BGT’s efforts to provide world class service and become the premiere terminal for efficient and safe handling of cargo in Iraq,” said Romeo Salvador, BGT chief executive officer.
