BGT demonstrates specialized cargo handling capability

Specialized breakbulk cargo unloaded from ship

Basra Gateway Terminal (BGT) has successfully discharged a specialized breakbulk shipment for DSV and Ceekay Line, transported on a Hapag-Lloyd vessel from Nhava Sheva, India.

The shipment comprised two oversized tower furnaces, each measuring over 16 meters long, nearly four meters high, and weighing approximately 15 metric tons. Using ship-to-shore cranes equipped with dedicated lifting gear, BGT ensured the safe and efficient handling of the units.

This operation underscores BGT’s position as a trusted logistics hub for breakbulk, heavy-lift and project cargo. With modern infrastructure, skilled teams and strong partnerships, the terminal continues to play a vital role in supporting Iraq’s growing industrial and logistics sectors.
