Athletes set record in ICTSI meet

Philippine athletes delivered several record‑setting performances during the 2026 ICTSI Philippine Athletics Championships, held June 10-14 at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium.

Now in its fourth year, the meet is backed by a partnership between the Philippine Athletics, Inc. (PATAFA) and the ICTSI Foundation. The meet drew more than 1,000 athletes, including 95 international competitors from nine countries.

The meet included the introduction of an Under‑20 category, with organizers noting its role in developing young athletes alongside national team members.

The national team topped the men’s and women’s open divisions, while the University of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern University led the Under‑20 men’s and women’s categories. South Korea and Atletico‑Iskolar Calamba City placed first in the Under‑18 divisions.

Leonard Grospe set a national record in the high jump at 2.23 meters, surpassing his previous mark of 2.22 meters set earlier in the year. Lauren Hoffman won the women’s 100‑meter hurdles, while Junel Gobothia and Jessa Mae Roda retained their titles in the men’s and women’s 3,000‑meter steeplechase.

Yacine Guermali secured his third straight men’s 5,000‑meter title, Sonny Wagdos won the 10‑kilometer and 20‑kilometer events, Jessica Laurance took the women’s 100‑meter title, and Janry Ubas won his seventh consecutive long jump championship.

Newcomers Gabe Borado and Nathaniel Seiler also recorded wins in the men’s 400‑meter hurdles and race walk events.
