Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT) received the Entrepreneur of the Year – City of Rijeka award as part of the first national edition of Bilanca Uspjeha 2025, which recognizes the best entrepreneurs in Croatia.

The awards are based on official FINA data for 2024, applying an advanced AI-driven methodology developed under the guidance of the University of Rijeka Faculty of Economics, and confirmed by a national expert committee.

The awarding ceremony took place on September 12 in the Crystal Hall of Hotel Kvarner in Opatija, where Rijeka Mayor Iva Rinčić presented the winners. Emmanuel Papagiannakis, AGCT chief executive officer, accepted the award.

“This award is a source for pride for AGCT and all our dedicated employees. As we are aware, ports are key drivers of economic success, with typically 80 percent of a country’s trade handled through them. Ports also have a strong multiplier effect, generating at least three jobs for every direct job,” said Mr. Papagiannakis.

“We are pleased to contribute to the City of Rijeka. AGCT has evolved from primarily serving Croatia and the Balkans to now covering Central Europe via rail. Congratulations to all winners – a strong Croatia for all requires strong businesses,” he added.

The award was held under the patronage of Croatian ministries, chambers, and institutions, and in partnership with the Faculty of Economics in Rijeka.
