AGCT continues commitment to a cleaner Adriatic

Protecting the marine environment remains a long-standing commitment for Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT). Each year around World Oceans Day, the terminal organizes an underwater clean-up in the waters surrounding its operations, contributing to the preservation of the Adriatic Sea.

Held on 18 June 2026, this year’s initiative was organized in partnership with Deep Cleanup – Society for Marine Protection and Research, with logistical support from Pelagos Diving Center.

Taking advantage of the operational window between vessel calls, the team was able to clean the entire length of the terminal’s quay, an area normally occupied by container vessels. A total of 19 divers, including four Adriatic Gate Container Terminal employees, removed more than 750 kilograms of waste from the seabed. The collected waste included approximately 350 kilograms of plastic and mixed debris along with more than 400 kilograms of metal waste, which were responsibly sorted and disposed of.

The participation of Adriatic Gate Container Terminal employees highlights the role of environmental responsibility within the company culture and the continued involvement of colleagues in initiatives that support marine conservation.

The terminal extends its appreciation to all divers, volunteers and partners who contributed to the successful completion of this year’s clean-up activity.
